What really goes into building an outdoor fitness experience that moves your body and lifts your spirit?

At RFitness Outdoors, what you see at a session — the energy, the encouragement, the equipment laid out just right — is only part of the story. Behind every class is a thoughtful process designed to help you feel strong, supported, and inspired to keep showing up.

I take time to plan every single session. Each workout is intentionally created to suit the group, the environment, and the energy of the day. I keep a detailed log of every session planned so I can ensure things stay engaging, varied, and progressively challenging — no two weeks are ever quite the same, and that’s by design.

Planning the Workouts: Functional, Fun, and Always Fresh

Every session is carefully planned with three things in mind:

Functionality:

My goal is to help you build strength that actually supports your day-to-day life. That means training movements — not just muscles. We focus on things like squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling in ways that make you feel more capable outside of class too. Whether it’s picking up your kids, carrying shopping, or hiking up a hill, I want your fitness to mean something beyond the workout.

🔄 Progression:

I design workouts that allow everyone to work at their own level, while still progressing over time. I track each session so I know what we’ve done and what we’re building towards. You’ll see familiar movements return — but with new variations, added resistance, or different formats to keep you improving and never bored. It’s structured, not random.

🎉 Fun:

Just because it’s training doesn’t mean it can’t be joyful! I love adding variety through creative challenges, circuits, and group games. You’ll often find team-based workouts where we encourage each other, laugh and share the effort. I also like to finish strong — with a short, spicy “finisher” that pushes your limits in a fun way. These are the moments where the group really comes alive — cheering each other on, digging deep, and finishing with pride.

The Equipment: Packed Like Tetris, Powered by a Smart Car

You’d be amazed at how much equipment I can fit into one tiny Smart car. Honestly, it’s a bit of a running joke — but there’s a method to the madness! I make sure every class is fully kitted out with everything we need to move, challenge, and enjoy ourselves.

Expect to see a mix of:

  • Kettlebells (obviously — what else would you expect from a kettlebell athlete?)
  • Resistance bands
  • Kickpads
  • Paralletes
  • Slam balls
  • Steppers
  • Dumbbells
  • Mace (it’s usually always in the car so ask me about it)

And if anyone forgets water — don’t worry, I bring spare bottles too. I’ve got your back.

While kettlebells are a staple in my sessions, I’m always looking for new and fun ways to keep things fresh. As RFitness grows, you can expect to see new bits of kit, new formats, and the occasional surprise challenge that keeps things exciting.

Just know that behind every “pop-up” workout is a car packed with purpose — and a coach who loves delivering a great experience.

 Creating the Right Energy

At RFitness Outdoors, it’s not just about movement — it’s about creating an energy that lifts people up and makes them believe in what they’re capable of.

That energy doesn’t happen by accident. I take the time to get to know each person — to really understand what they want from their training. Whether it’s building confidence, increasing strength, improving fitness for everyday life, or simply feeling good in their body, I listen. And then I weave those goals into the workouts.

You might not notice it at first, but when I hear someone say, “I’d love to work on upper body strength” — suddenly, you’ll start to see a few more pulling or pressing movements appear. The beauty is, everyone benefits from that extra focus, and it keeps sessions fresh and purposeful for the whole group.

I also keep mental notes of each person’s progress — not just the big wins, but the little shifts too. So when I see someone hit a personal best or nail a movement they struggled with before, I remember. And next time, I’ll gently push them to go that little bit further — just outside their comfort zone, but never to the point of failure. It’s about building confidence alongside strength.

I love reminding people to reflect on how far they’ve come. Sometimes that means pointing out smoother movement or improved stamina. Sometimes it means snapping a photo — like I did for one member who didn’t realise how much definition her arms were gaining until I showed her a side-by-side. That smile said everything.

It’s also about keeping the fire lit. Encouraging someone to try a new move, pick up a heavier kettlebell, or hold a plank a little longer. These small nudges help people discover what they’re capable of — and that feeling becomes addictive (in the best way).

RFitness is more than just a class. It’s a space where you feel seen, supported, and celebrated. The energy is real — and it’s created by all of us, together.

 It’s More Than a Class — It’s My Joy

RFitness Outdoors isn’t just teaching a class to me — it’s a passion that fuels everything I do.

I get so much joy out of running these classes. Seeing people move, grow, and build confidence is endlessly rewarding. It doesn’t just inspire my coaching — it actually inspires my own training too. Watching someone push through a tough round, try something new, or lift heavier than they thought possible lights a fire in me to keep learning, growing, and showing up with new energy every time.

Even on days when I’ve had a tough time personally, the moment I arrive and start unloading equipment — there’s a buzz. Setting up kettlebells, mats, bands, and kickpads isn’t just routine — it’s a moment that signals something good is about to happen. I know I’m about to witness people supporting one another, cheering each other on, and walking away prouder and stronger than when they arrived.

That energy is contagious. And honestly? The drive home is often a full-blown dance party in my car. Music up, windows down (when it’s not pouring rain!), and a huge smile on my face. That post-session high is something special — and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

This is what I love. This is what I’m meant to be doing. Helping people feel good in their own skin, move with confidence, and enjoy fitness in a way that’s welcoming and empowering.

This is RFitness Outdoors. This is me. And I’m just getting started.

 Come See It for Yourself

If you’ve ever thought, “I’m not fit enough for a class like that” — you’re exactly the kind of person RFitness Outdoors was made for.

You don’t need to be fast. You don’t need to be strong. You don’t need to know what a kettlebell swing is (yet). You just need to show up — as you are.

Because once you do, you’ll find:

  • A group of real people who will cheer you on like teammates
  • A coach who actually listens and helps you grow at your pace
  • A mix of sweat, smiles, and maybe a little rain (we are outdoors, after all!)
  • And a sense of pride that hits you when you realise: “Hey… I can actually do this.”

You’ll leave feeling stronger, lighter (in every way), and more connected — to yourself, to the outdoors, and to a community that just gets it.

And who knows? You might even find yourself doing a little dance in the car on the way home too.

So, whether you’re curious, nervous, or just ready to shake things up — come give it a try. Your first session might just change the way you feel about fitness for good.

No pressure. Just progress. And plenty of laughs along the way.
Let’s move together. Outdoors, and onwards.
