What “Movement for Every Body” Really Means

Step onto any magazine aisle or open most fitness apps and you’ll be told there’s a single, perfect way to train: a body type to chase, a magic number on the scales, a “30‑day shred” plan that everyone should follow.

That’s not how bodies—or people—work.

“Movement for Every Body” starts with the idea that fitness is personal. We each bring our own histories, abilities, identities, and joys to the field or studio. When we honour that individuality, movement becomes less about squeezing into somebody else’s mould and more about celebrating what your body can do, today.

I know this firsthand. For years, I struggled with the pressure to have the “right” body. I thought I’d finally be happy when I was thinner or looked a certain way. But around three years ago, I had a turning point: I realised that my body is my body—and I needed to be happy with it as it is. That moment changed everything. I discovered that being fit doesn’t mean fitting a specific look. It means feeling strong, energised, and connected to yourself—regardless of shape or size.

Why the One‑Size‑Fits‑All Myth Hurts Us

  1. It excludes newcomers. If the only images we see are ultra‑lean athletes, beginners feel they need to “get fit first” before joining in.

  2. It hides diverse goals. Not everyone trains for weight loss. Some want energy for parenting, stress relief after work, or strength to swing their suitcase into an overhead locker.

  3. It fuels comparison instead of community. When classes revolve around a single ideal, people turn inward—counting reps and calories instead of cheering one another on.

I started RFitness Outdoors to flip the script. I want people to come along and just enjoy doing what they can—no pressure, no judgment. It’s about feeling good in your own skin, being outdoors with a fab group, having a laugh, and moving your body in a way that feels right for you. It’s about learning to love fitness with a whole new perspective.

At RFitness, we make space for every level, every body, every kind of goal—because movement should be about joy, not comparison.

The Power of Inclusivity & Body Positivity

For a long time, I thought fitness had to be serious, competitive, and focused on “fixing” something—your weight, your shape, your performance. But I’ve learned that the real power of movement lies in how it makes you feel, not how you look doing it.

When people feel truly included and accepted, everything shifts. I’ve seen it happen time and time again in my classes: someone shows up a bit nervous, unsure if they’ll be able to keep up, but within 10 minutes they’re smiling, high-fiving the person next to them, and realising they can do it—on their own terms.

Inclusivity and body positivity mean:

  • You don’t need a “fit” body to start—you just need a body, full stop.

  • You’re never judged for going at your own pace, or choosing an option that works best for you.

  • You’re surrounded by people who are more interested in cheering you on than competing with you.

When we take away the pressure to perform or look a certain way, that’s when people truly start to fall in love with movement. They begin to associate fitness with freedom, not punishment—with laughter, fresh air, and connection.

That’s the energy I bring to every RFitness Outdoors session. It’s not about how many burpees you can do—it’s about how empowered, proud, or even just lighter you feel walking away from class.

Making Movement Accessible: Practical Tips from Real Life

I’m a big believer that every class should meet you where you are—not where you think you “should” be. I’ve worked with people brand new to fitness, post-injury, competitive athletes, and everything in between. The goal is always the same: helping you move in a way that feels good for you.

Here’s how we make that happen at RFitness Outdoors:

  • Focus on how it feels, not how it looks. We’re not here to chase an aesthetic—we’re here to chase strength, confidence, and a good mood. Ask yourself: “Do I feel more awake? Stronger? More grounded?” That’s success.

  • Scale, don’t skip. Everything I programme has options. Can’t do full push-ups yet? That’s OK—we’ll build it up. Want to try a heavier kettlebell today? Let’s go. You get to decide what your challenge looks like.

  • Use real, empowering language. We talk about building strength for daily life—not “burning off guilt.” Movement isn’t punishment; it’s a celebration.

  • Celebrate small wins. Whether it’s showing up on a rainy day, managing your first full round without stopping, or simply moving better than last week—that’s worth recognising. Those wins add up and build real confidence.

How We Live This at RFitness Outdoors

The outdoors is one of our greatest tools. Training outside helps strip back the noise and pressure of indoor gym culture. You’re surrounded by trees, fresh air, and real people—not mirrors or machines. You get to reconnect with your body in a completely different way.

Here’s how we put it into practice:

  • Sessions that feel like play. From relay races to partner circuits, we bring the fun. Yes, you’ll work hard—but you’ll also laugh, connect, and probably surprise yourself.

  • All abilities welcome. Whether you’re lifting your first kettlebell or training for a marathon, there’s a space for you. I always offer alternatives and support, because no one should feel left behind.

  • Encouragement over ego. You’ll find a real sense of team here. People cheer each other on, help with kit, and celebrate progress—because we’re all in this together.

  • Real-life coaching. I bring everything I’ve learned from competing internationally and combine it with my belief that fitness is for everyone. I’ve had injuries, I’ve had wobbles, and I’ve had to rebuild my mindset. That honesty helps me support others better—and it keeps things real.

Your Next Step – Let’s Redefine Fitness Together

You don’t have to be “fit” to start. You don’t have to wear fancy kit or look a certain way. You just have to show up—and I promise, that’s enough.

At RFitness Outdoors, we’re building something more than just fitness classes. We’re building confidence. We’re building connection. And we’re helping people rewrite their relationship with movement in a way that feels joyful, empowering, and sustainable.
